This voice and text-interactive workshop will talk about getting and developing ideas for a play. Topics include:

  • What is a play, exactly?
  • Where ideas come from, how to find one
  • Risks associated with certain kinds of ideas and strategies for managing them
  • Choosing between ideas
  • Taking a premise and building it into a story
  • Identifying the protagonist

This 90-minute session will present some concepts of play development and ask the participants to apply to a story they are developing.  Breakout sessions will allow participants to share ideas with one or two other participants and get feedback.

Participant should leave the session with a clearer idea of how they might develop an idea into a play, or how to take a play already in development to the next level.
